Tonight's flight takes us across the South China Sea for a short hop to Hong Kong using PMDG's 777 cargo variant in the Thai Air Cargo livery. I decided to complete the flight via the VATSIM network and was fortunate enough to have Hong Kong tower go on-line during the trip. I was a little concerned about the accent issue since I was flying into Hong Kong but fortunately, the tower controller did a great job and spoke very good English. A recent trip from Malta to Manchester proved to be a little more difficult due to thick accents but in the end, all worked out. And thankfully there is a text option for communication when all else fails or the controllers get tired of hearing me say, "Uh, can you repeat that?" I am thankful for all of the controllers on VATSIM since it is a tough job controlling and it is all done for fun/free so it is a win-win. Anyway, the weather was nice with some bumps here and there and visibility was reduced to 5 miles with low clouds at VHHH. I'm also using the new PrecipitX and their 777 Immersion package for added environmental effects. I like it thus far but have only used it for one flight. Another fun thing about this flight is that I have flown out of Hong Kong twice and was excited to see Taxi2Gate release their version for FSX. Always fun to visit places in FSX that I have been in the real world.....and I don't expect to be in Hong Kong again any time soon. And now for the departure!
